Running the Three Peaks (UK) Challenge with a twist

last year, I decided to do the Three Peaks Challenge but with a twist. Traditionally people attempt to climb the three highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales in 24 hours using a car to get between each. My twist was to run the distance in between with everything I needed strapped to my back and try and do it in 14 days. The distance is about 700km, give or take, which means covering roughly 50km a day.

I managed to complete the challenge in 13 days, 23 hours and 40 mins and apparently that is the record... Check to see if that is still the case HERE:

Now, I am not a record seeking kind of adventurer so I am going to set out my route etc to try and help those who will go on to trump my time.

The Route:

Day 1: 9.00am start at Fort William, climb Ben Nevis and run to Kinlochleven (Blackwater Hostel Campsite)

Day 2: Tyndrum (ByTheWay hostel and Campsite)

Day 3: Inversnaid (Inversnaid Bunkhouse)

Day 4: Milngavie (Bankell Farm)

Day 5: Glasgow (Euro Hostel)

Day 6: Nrth of Crawfordjohn (restaurant on side of road)

Day 7: Nr Auchenrodden Forrest (Lockerbie) (Side of road)

Day 8: Carlisle (Carlisle City Hostel)

Day 9: Borrowdale (Chapel House Farm)

Day 10: Climb Scafell Pike & run to Chapel Stile (Bays Brown Campsite)

Day 11: Lancaster (Travelodge)

Day 12: Nr Ormskirk (Abbey Farm Campsite)

Day 13: Nannerch (Fron Farm Campsite)

Day 14: Mount Snowdon (on the side of Mount Snowdon!)

Climb Mount Snowdon and arrive at summit 8.20am

Tips:

I wish I had run the other way... The West Highland Way is most impressive near Fort William and Ben Nevis is the highest mountain so would have been a more dramatic end.
